With GAP in the old Race program one had three options:

1. 100% time points (ie no penalty)
2. 80% time points (default)
3. Manually remove time (or someting to that effect) to achieve 0% time points

With option 2. time points would be reduced but one would still get arrival position points.

With option 3. one would get 0 time points and 0 arrival position points.

In FS one has the option to set the percentage of time points to be awarded. Apart from that it follows the way it worked in Race. Ie arrival position points is awarded to all that reach ES.

In PWC 2009 they use GAP for scoring. I noticed, looking at results from task 1 in Korea, that they also remove arrival position points for those pilots reaching ES but not GOAL.

Anyone have any arguments for or against this?

PS: I personally feel that Arrival position/time points is a bit redundant when one use leading points. Leading points encourage pilots to take the lead during the whole task. Arrival position points rewards the pilot beating the other pilot by 1m, not good for safety (also when having elapsed time it makes no sense(?) to reward one pilot for being a meter ahead of the other at ES).
Arrival time points is really just amplifying the time points (if one do not use Arrival pos/time points these points go into the Time points instead).
