<p>Anyone flow in this sort of task? </p>
<p>I did once many years ago and, if I remember correctly, we were given a point 200km away and told to fly in that direction.</p>
<p>What happend was that some pilots who after about 100km where far of the "line" kept trying to fly towards the point (as indicated on the gps).</p>
<p>They lost out compared to those doing the correct thing, namely just keep flying in the correct heading.</p>
<p>What should’ve been done, which would’ve worked good enough, was to have the point at least 1000km away. Even being 50km of "line" one would not go much wrong by flying towards the point.</p>
<p>The "correct" way of setting a heading task:<br />
"Fly from tp1 (take off) at a heading of 45 degrees"</p>
<p>The way to fly this with my Compeo+ is to have one of the fields display "track" and just in general try to keep it showing 45 most of the time.</p>
<p>Are there any flight-instruments (gps’s) that do not have a display field for "track"?</p>
<p>In FS at the moment one define a heading task by using a point somewhere on the heading from the last tp. It does not matter how far away it is as FS just use it to find the heading.</p>
<p>In real-life, are one simulating heading by setting a point very far away, and does this work well when setting and flying the task?</p>

Pilots can fly in any direction and provide you with points according to their distance flown.April 30, 2009 at 4:35 pm #351rafalopezParticipant<FsTask id=”1″ name=”” tracklog_folder=””><FsScoreFormula id=”GAP2002″ use_distance_points=”0″ use_time_points=”1″ use_departure_points=”0″ use_leading_points=”1″ use_arrival_position_points=”1″ use_arrival_time_points=”0″ min_dist=”5″ nom_dist=”25″ nom_time=”1.5″ nom_goal=”0.2″ time_points_if_not_in_goal=”0.8″ jump_the_gun_factor=”0″ use_1000_points_for_max_day_quality=”0″ time_validity_based_on_pilot_with_speed_rank=”1″ /><FsTaskDefinition goal=”CIRCLE” ss=”2″ es=”3″><FsTurnpoint id=”CCA006″ lat=”-35.64952″ lon=”-61.38185″ radius=”400″ open=”2009-04-30T12:00:00-03:00″ close=”2009-04-30T20:00:00-03:00″ /><FsTurnpoint id=”CCA006″ lat=”-35.64952″ lon=”-61.38185″ radius=”400000″ open=”2009-04-30T12:00:00-03:00″ close=”2009-04-30T20:00:00-03:00″ /><FsTurnpoint id=”CCA006″ lat=”-35.64952″ lon=”-61.38185″ radius=”400″ open=”2009-04-30T12:00:00-03:00″ close=”2009-04-30T20:00:00-03:00″ /><FsStartGate open=”2009-04-30T12:00:00-03:00″ /></FsTaskDefinition><FsParticipants /></FsTask>
