#74 closed defect (fixed)

Version update within FSComp fails when downloading to active FS folder.

Reported by: Øyvind Ellefsen Owned by: Stein Tore Erdal
Priority: minor Milestone: 1.1.4
Component: FsComp Version: 1.1.3
Keywords: setup download Cc:

Description

Start FS, it reports; Version news: http://fs.fai.org/cgi-bin/trac.fcgi/wiki/Fs1.1.3

There are new versions the following FS components: default.jpg FsComp.exe

Click "Download new version.." and select to download to same folder as existing version. If I am quick to select the current folder and start the update it fails, with the error message "Not able to run setup, most likely no connection to the internet or fs website." If I wait a few seconds more, so that FSComp quits, it works.

If I try to download to another folder than the current FS installation, the download works fine. (As suggested by FS)

I would guess it fails because the process have a lock on the file, and does not allow it to be overwritten. The download process should probably wait for the FSComp process to terminate before starting.

Also the error message is not very accurate.

Unable to recreate error on my computer.

Will change the whole thing so that one is notified about the new version but will have to go to the web site and download it manually. This is less prone to errors.
