Hi Jug,
I agree that the map view leaves a lot to desire, but the things you mentioned is already there.
Move map: left-click somewhere and the place you clicked is places in the center.
Zoom in: with left mouse button, hold down and drag …
Zoom out: right-click somewhere and the place you clicked is places in the center and zoomed out.Coordinates of where the mouse-pointer is: first line in the upper left corner
Coordinates of the tracklog-point nearest to the mouse-pointer: second line in the upper left corner. The map view has not had priority so far. Using FsFlight (under the Tools menu) you get all the dirty details about a flight and how the turnpoints where taken (or not taken).
Eventually the map view in FsComp will be improved on with respect to understanding how the program calc. distance and time etc…

steMemberOne task of fscompe the pilot gets 997 Points
and with Race+CompeGPS 1000 Points. The difference may be in the leading coefficient, CompeGPS and FS does not have exact same way of calculating it.

steMemberHow About Dead Line, or interruption for security reasons when whe already have pilots in the goal?
FS will check tracklog points upto the close time of the last turnpoint defined in the task. It is not concerned with pilots in goal or not, in this respect.
If one has stopped the task early for some reason, just change the task definition so that the close time of the last turnpoint (and the others) is no later than the time the task was stopped.

steMemberThe term “Startgate” is in FS used for the start-time(s) which a pilot can be given in a RACE task.
“Start of speedsection” (SS) turnpoint is the turnpoint where the time starts and where one may have a number of startgates. (no startgates means it is an elapsed time race).
For a SS turnpoint it is the time of the last crossing of the cylinder that is registered. (which leads a completed task or longest distance).
The direction is irrelevant.
If the next turnpoint is outside the SS turnpoint cylinder, then the last crossing will normally be going out (exit) of the SS cylinder.
If the next turnpoint is inside the SS turnpoint (having SS as big cylinder…), then the last crossing will normally be going into (enter) the SS cylinder.

steMemberIt would be part of a scoring formula, and as such the existing GAP scoring formulas (GAP2007, GAP2000/2002 & OzGAP2005) will not be changed.
It may be a part of GAP2008 which will appear in FS 1.2. If so it might be as an option to select. The way GAP is intended to work:
A pilot choosing not to take off for any reason other than safety should be listed as ABS (absent) which will not have any effect on the launch validity.
A pilot choosing not to take off for safety reason should be listed as DNF and this should reduce the launch validity. The idea that a pilot don’t have to actually take off in order to get min. distance comes from Australia. It has been used a few times with competitions in Manilla and is now also in item 5.2 in the Australian rulebook:
“5.2 DNF- Did Not Fly: Pilots that do not launch due to safety concerns will be scored DNF, and they will be scored negative penalty points equivalent to the bombout score on the day. By default, the RACE scoring program scores DNF as zero, and the day is devalued.”I quite like this. The idea of the min. distance points is to stop pilots from trying to extend their distance when it is obvious they’re not getting anyhwere. So by giving min. distance also to those not jumping of launch for safety reasons, one avoid pushing pilots of launch.

steMemberHi Yusuke,
It does say “”Set the UTC date/time. …” in the “Set Competition Time” dialog in GpsDump (4.16) so I am not sure how to make this clearer.
